Linda DeCorato is a founding member and senior partner of the firm. Prior to completing her legal education, Ms. DeCorato practiced as a Registered Nurse for more than ten years in medical, surgical, critical care and nursing education. She was the Nurse Manager for a 52-bed medical surgical unit during which time she implemented a primary care nursing model focusing on improving the quality of care for patients. While attending law school she was employed as the Director of Risk Management/ Quality Assurance for a major metropolitan hospital during the inception of Public Health Law 2805, mandating hospital based risk management quality assurance programs and integrated physician credentialing procedures.
Her practice areas include the litigation of complex medical malpractice matters, health care law and regulatory issues, physicians and nurses in disciplinary matters, elder law, guardianship, Medicaid planning, wills, trusts, and estates.
In addition to notable success in defending malpractice claims, Ms. DeCorato has been appointed guardian by several NYS Judges to oversee the management of significant estates of incapacitated persons. She has also successfully defended a number of nurses whose licenses were compromised.
Ms. DeCorato is an active member of the City Bar and sits on the Bioethics Committee. She is also a member of the New York State Medical Defense Bar and a member of several state and national professional associations including the American Association of Nurse Attorneys and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys.
